Onboarding Data Stewards

The IT Team provides onboarding training for new Data Stewards. A Data Steward is looked to as a SME (subject matter expert) of their field. We rely on each team’s Data Steward(s) to provide insight and guidance into their daily functions within CADENCE and business practice, participate in group meetings, communicate business rules and updates with their teams, and initiate new projects.

 

Prior to Onboarding Training, A new Data Steward Must:

  • Be cross-trained by their supervisor on their team’s day-to-day functions in CADENCE.

  • Review all Business Glossary terms Documentation Library procedures for their team.

  • Review the Data Stewards page on the Development Intranet here
  • Review the CADENCE page on the Development Intranet here.
  • Submit a HelpDesk Ticket to schedule your Onboarding training. 

 

IT TEAM'S RESPONSBILITIES

  • Schedule and complete Onboarding Training with the new Data Steward.
  • Grant the new Data Steward with the applicable 'Data Steward' access in CADENCE.
  • Transfer ownership of any existing Business Glossary terms and Documentation in the Library to the new Data Steward.

 

Data Steward Meetings

Data Stewards will meet twice a month: once with the full data steward group and once with their applicable subgroup. Data Stewards have been broken down into the following sub-groups:

    • Principal Giving, CFR, Executive, IPTAY
    • CUF & Finance
    • Donor Relations, Prospect Research, UDT
    • Annual Giving, MARCOM/Events, Alumni
